A POLYCHROME-PAINTED WOOD FIGURE OF GUANYIN
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The bodhisattva is seated in royal ease, rajalilasana, on rocks, wearing long
robes with beaded jewellery and a high crown set with a fgure of Amitayus.
The fgure is covered with traces of red, blue, green and gilt pigments.

A POLYCHROME-DECORATED CARVED WOOD STANDING
FIGURE
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The standing fgure is carved with his hands clasped before him, his eyes
downcast and upswept hair worn in a lotus bud top knot, his robes are worn
over a tunic and fall in loose folds that fall just short of his feet. The fgure bears
traces of gilt decoration and red, black, green and blue pigment.
