P. 8

We honor mothers taken from us by taking flowers from theirs.

As walking backwards with a load of laundry is the best way to see if
you’ve dropped a sock between hamper and washer, so are memories
carried as the future is approached.

Death can’t be a thief; it merely reclaims its own property.

Porkinson’s Law: Americans expand to be filled with the resources
        allocated to them.

Returning the favor, words fail me.

Republicans shouldn’t object to bureaucracy: it’s the most
        conservative form of government.

No res publica without mens sana.

Snowflakes fallen from seeded clouds are no less unique: we are most
        godlike when we create randomly.

If memory serves, I’ll be surprised!

That all cats are gray in the dark is a sad and sorry justification for not
        turning on the lights.

Dripping with irony, the point I keep making becomes a stalactite.

Can the world you imagine going on without you really go on
        without you to imagine it?

If brevity is the soul of wit, levity is the goal of it.

You may be tight-lipped and tight-assed, but you can’t escape Boyle’s
        Law.
