SESSION 8 : Song of Songs Chapter 3:6-11 (TPT)

In verses 9–10, we see a portrayal of the covenant between Jesus, the

Bridegroom King, and His Bride. As long as we remain in the
carriage—i.e., in covenantal standing—and don’t venture off onto our

own path, we can live in peace with joy!

Surprisingly, even in a traditional, ancient Jewish wedding ceremony,

this point is clearly illustrated. The carriage would arrive at the house

of the bride, and she was not permitted to touch the ground as she
alighted from the carriage. She had to make sure that she stepped

directly from her threshold onto a small step or platform. She couldn’t
risk soiling her bridal clothes by touching the dirty, dusty earth. This

resonates with me in the context of the scripture in James 1:27, which
emphasizes the importance of keeping oneself pure from the world's

pollution. We are made into a pure, spotless bride through the blood of

Jesus, so let us not soil ourselves with things of the world but seek to
live lives that are wholly pleasing to Him. He paid a great price and

therefore deserves nothing less than our all.

Our King made the mercy seat Himself because He wanted to be in

covenant with us. This covenant is eternal and dependable, and we can

totally trust in it because it is the person of Jesus—our All in All. He
desires you, and He desires me. He is more interested in being in a close

relationship with us than He is in all the religious activity we get
involved in. Only relationship will mould us into the image of His Son

and transform us into vessels of love, which can be poured out onto a

          broken and hurting world.
