SESSION 1 : Who is This Shepherd-King?
villages and family, they didn’t have mobile phones to call home in a
crisis. Still, they took full responsibility for the safekeeping of their
animals—even to the point of risking their lives.
Isn’t this how Jesus cares for us? He is no hired help. He never demands
anything in return for His love. He just loves. He gave His all without
any thought of counting the cost or receiving a reward.
As I mentioned earlier, this is not a sprint and not rushed, but a walk
through this valley—which gives us the sense of it taking some time to
accomplish. However, despite its duration, it is worth remembering that
as long as the sheep keep their eyes on the Shepherd, they do finally
get through and reach higher ground.
I want to pause for a moment to share a part of my testimony, offering
encouragement to those who are walking through difficult times in their
lives.
In 2011, the Lord visited me in a tangible way in my kitchen. I could
feel the heaviness of His presence. Then came the words: “Will you lay
your marriage on the altar for Me?” My first reaction was one of fear
and panic, as questions assaulted my mind: “What will I do? Where
will I go? How will it affect the children? How will I live? What will
people think?”
I went through all these thought processes and questions, but God’s
request hung heavily and silently in the air and waited for an answer. I
then saw a picture of myself standing alone with a suitcase in each
