hand. This was a divine sign that I was to go on a journey—and I was
to go solo.
Although I had no idea at that point (which, in hindsight, was a good
thing, as I did not have the strength to endure it at the time), this was to
be a three-year journey through the valley of the shadow of death.
After several minutes had elapsed, I told God that I had to grant Him
this request, because there was no alternative for me. To refuse Him
would mean a stagnation of my walk and my spiritual demise—and I
could not bear that.
Similarly, sheep also have to keep walking and are not left in the same
pastures for very long. The reason for this is that if the shepherd does
not move them, they end up destroying the grass by eating it right down
to the roots, causing the ground to erode. This, in turn, robs the ground
of all nutrients, making it weak and prey to parasitic infestation. The
sheep themselves ultimately become extremely sickly and weak.
The numerous similarities between us and sheep never cease to amaze
me! When we do not keep moving in faith from glory to glory—being
built up and rooted in Christ, our strength—then we too become weak
and sickly Christians who fall back into the carnal nature.
Going back to the testimony—as one can imagine—I was extremely
perplexed by this entire encounter and was indeed very fearful.
Thankfully, I had invited someone for lunch, and when my friend, a
very mature Christian, arrived, I told her what had happened. She gave
