SESSION 1 : Who is This Shepherd-King?

comforting Mother. He was the perfect Parent for me, which is also

what I needed, as both my parents had already passed away.

In addition, He also revealed Himself to me as my heavenly

Bridegroom—and He was absolutely amazing. I was wooed by Jesus,
who sent me flowers, chocolates, expensive clothes, and looked after

me amazingly well. Whatever I needed, He supplied.

Several years down the line, I can genuinely say that I thank God for
the grace He gave me to endure. His rod annihilated all the hostile

enemies I encountered along the way. And when I mistakenly ventured
off the right path, He used His staff—which we call the crook—to

gently bring me back onto the right track to receive His comfort and

          love.

You may be wondering how the staff can bring comfort and love, so I

will explain. A shepherd may use a staff to rest upon. I have seen
several Cumbrian sheep farmers lean on their staffs as they pause from

their work. This serves as a reminder that we, too, find all the rest we

need as we lean on the Lord.

          He is our everything.

Verse 5 says, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my
enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”

I wish to interpret this verse in three ways.
