RADICAL LOVE
“For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves?
Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who
serves.”
The point I am making, once again, is that so often, the “female” aspect
of the words in Genesis 1:27 (NIV)—“So God created mankind in his
own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he
created them”—is overlooked or disregarded.
God is far beyond and above any gender, but He expresses here quite
clearly that He possesses “mother-like” and female qualities that are
vital if the Body of Christ is to come into complete wholeness. We are,
after all, members of the family of God, and a family without the
mother is just as incomplete as a family without the father.
I believe that we are now in a season where we are being called to eat
and drink regularly at the table of the Lord. This is our route to attaining
the fullness of Christ—as we fondly and affectionately call to
remembrance not only the price He paid on our behalf, but also the
enormity of His love and what He gained for us through His death and
resurrection.
He is our perfect Parent.
I prayed and asked what relation this had to “in the presence of mine
enemies.” One sense was that distractions can be the enemy.
So often, Jesus prepares a table for us, but we choose lesser things to
spend much of our time on—such as sport, TV, and hobbies. However,
