CHAPTER 5
W
“ ake up, bestie! It’s the first day of school!”
I opened my eyes, yawning the whole time, and asked,
“What time is it?”
“It’s… 7:15,” Alexa said, checking her phone.
“Oh, Alexa, 7:15? C’mon, we have more time! Please, let me sleep
for about… five minutes,” I said, going back to sleep.
Then, after five—sorry, twenty—minutes, Alexa came back into
the room and started hitting me to wake me up.
“Ughh, Alexa!” I said, annoyed.
“Wake up! It’s already twenty minutes past, and your mom told
me to come wake you up.”
“So? Another… five minutes,” I groaned.
She sighed dramatically, then suddenly shrieked, “Oh my gosh!
Gigi, there are roaches on the floor!”
I immediately jumped up and yelled, “Where?!”
Alexa started laughing like a maniac.
“What? Roaches aren’t funny!” I looked around for them.
“Nothing—it’s just… there are no roaches! Haha!”
I grabbed one of my pillows and threw it at her.
“Seriously?”
“It was the only way to wake you up. Now let’s go! It’s 7:30 now.”
She slipped on her shoes.
