CHAPTER 9
T
he next morning, Mom knocked on my door and came in. She
woke us up and told us to start packing our stuff. I asked why,
and she said,
“Because we’ll be going to a new home in the next two days.
Apparently, the new school you’ll be attending is in a different place.”
Alexa and I were really shocked. We didn’t even stay in that school
for a week!
Speaking of school, I heard on social media that Ange and Faye’s
moms actually filed charges—and made them go to jail! I was so glad
my mom didn’t arrest or charge me. Then I realized something.
I immediately rushed downstairs to where Mom was, sat beside
her, and hugged her.
“What’s going on?” she asked, confused.
“Just hugging my mom.”
“Are you trying to make up for what you did last night? Because
I’ll tell you—it’s not going to work.”
“Oh, c’mon, Mom. Look, I’m just glad you didn’t get me
arrested.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. I just heard my friends who were with me at the mall got
arrested.”
“But I didn’t charge them.”
