CHAPTER 10
I
went upstairs and saw her packing her stuff into a suitcase.
I walked closer and said, “Um, can we talk?”
She turned to me, looking annoyed, and said, “What?”
“Look, I know I’ve been a little weird and annoying and stuff, but… I
want to make it up to you.”
“And how do you plan to do that?”
“By saying sorry. You deserve an apology. I was stupid enough
to lie to you and leave you at school alone.”
“Yeah, with some weird girls.”
“Oh, they’re definitely weird!”
Alexa let out a small laugh, then said, “Gigi, like I said, you’re
my best friend. And everything’s gonna be okay—but it won’t happen
if we go our separate ways. Remember what we promised?”
“Uh… remind me again?” I chuckled, a little confused.
“That we’ll always be with each other—and go everywhere
together.”
“Yes. And Alexa, I don’t want you to be just a friend to me,
because you’re everything—my bestie, partner in crime, sister, and
buddy.”
“Forever?”
“Forever.”
We hugged.
And that was the last time we’d ever fight—or leave each other—
again.
