CHAPTER 10

he next day at school, Marla was sick, so she couldn’t come.

Now I was wondering who I’d sit with at lunch—and I still
had to give her the fluffy bear I got from the competition. But

right after I thought about it, I heard my name yelled out behind me. I
          turned, and it was Travis.

“Oh, hey,” I said with a small wave.

“Hi,” he replied, flashing a crooked smile.
“You really walked from the main doors just to say hi to me?”

He scratched the back of his neck, shifting his weight. “Maybe I
          did… maybe I didn’t. I don’t know—guess I just ended up here.”

I let out a chuckle, already amused.

Then he glanced around before asking, “Would it be cool if I hung
out with you today? My friends have kind of been ignoring me since

yesterday, and… well, you’re the only person I actually feel like talking
          to right now.”

I blinked. Travis—the new guy—wanted to spend the whole day
with me. And the strange thing? I didn’t even think about saying no.

“Alright, stay with me if you can.” I shrugged with a smile.

“By the way, are you heading to class?”
“Yep, we can go together… milady.”

“Milady?” Since when did this guy call me milady?
