SESSION 19

and wait in silence, with no agenda but simply the desire to connect

          with Him.

On most occasions, after sitting for several minutes in stillness, I begin

to sense His presence in a tangible way—but this isn’t always the case.
One time, I remember sitting silently for about an hour in the garden

and sensing absolutely nothing at all. I spoke with Him about it and told

Him that I felt I had accomplished nothing and that it was a waste. But
He said that the fact I had given Him that time to be with Him was a

          precious thing.

The Lord desires that we go to Him for no other reason than to show

our love. No petitions or expectations need to be voiced, because He

already knows everything. This is a place of complete faith and trust in
His promise to us—that He is our All-Sufficient One and has every

          aspect of our lives covered.

The flesh hates this type of prayer. And if I am honest, I do not find it

easy, because to the natural man, it seems like nothing is happening.

However, I can assure you—it is!

As the flesh, which has already been crucified, is treated as such—i.e.,

dead—and the focus constantly returns to Christ, then the Holy Spirit
can come to the fore and take over from fleshly, useless activity.

          Let me explain…

One day, I was lying on my lounge floor in complete silence. Though

my mind kept wandering off, I kept coming back to the core of my
