RADICAL LOVE
of great importance required of her. The Bridegroom-King is about to
make an extremely serious exhortation. If she obeys and heeds it, all
shall be well.
This command from Jesus is also as important to us as the Ecclesia of
Jesus Christ. May the Holy Spirit quicken us and open our hearts, eyes,
and ears to hear what He is saying to the Church of today through this
section of the text.
We begin verse 6 with Him almost pleading with her to go even further
and to fasten Him as a seal over her heart (some Bible versions also
say over her arm). This sealing speaks of the blood-sealed, unbreakable
covenant God made with us through Jesus’ death on the cross.
The Bible tells us in Proverbs 4:23 that we are to guard our hearts above
all else, because it is from there that our life source flows. A heart full
of offense, bitterness, sin, and foolishness stems from the carnal man
and does not have the Holy Spirit's life flowing from it. Only when our
hearts are in Christ and full of His truth, His love, and His thoughts can
life flow. Jesus is our life, and there is no life outside of Him.
Oh yes—there is existence, as we see in the world—but true life
emanates from Christ alone. He is the One who will shield our hearts
from all spoiling influences. And that is why we must guard and obey,
with all diligence, the truths and biblical instructions God has placed
within us through the Holy Spirit’s illumination of the Scriptures.
