IMPOSITION OF THE RELEVANT MASTER’S DEGREE AS A REQUIREMENT
FOR FACULTY MEMBERS TO BECOME PERMANENT
Rationale
In line with the vision and mission of the Isabela State University to be the Center of
Excellence in Instruction, Research, Extension, and Production, and in response to the
challenges of globalization, it is imperative that its manpower resources, most especially
the faculty members, must pursue advanced education for its intellectual growth, and for
the enrichment of the teaching-learning process; hence, these policies, rules, and
regulations are hereby imposed.
Objectives
The imposition of having relevant master’s degree for faculty members to become
permanent is made for the following objectives:
a) To help improve the status and performance of the University in Accreditation,
SUC Leveling and Normative Funding Scheme of the government;
b) To facilitate the attainment of the goals and objectives of the University along its
mandated thrusts, namely: Instruction, Research, Extension, and Production;
c) To upgrade/improve the capabilities/competencies of the faculty members; and
d) To compel the existing and incoming faculty members without relevant master’s
degree to pursue advanced education.
Coverage
These policies, rules and regulations shall generally apply to all faculty members,
regardless of their status and tenure with the University and categorized as follows:
1) New Appointee/s without relevant master’s degrees;
2) Existing faculty members who are holding permanent positions without any units in
relevant Master’s degrees;
3) Existing faculty members who have already started their Master’s degrees and about
to finish prior to the verticalization policy of the University;
