Curriculum aims to prepare students to be better
citizens of tomorrow by helping them better
understand the interconnectedness of Singapore
and the world. It allows students to appreciate the
human experience’s complexities and draw on the
meaningful aspects of society and the students’
interests.
Social Studies seek to ignite students’ curiosity to
inquire into the real-world issues that concern their
life. In the 2021 Social Studies publication for Normal
(Technical) Secondary Schools students, Ms Cheryl
Lee, an NYAA Gold Award holder, was featured. In
particular, her leadership and contributions at the
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change Youth Conference Panel Discussion organised
by the Government of Japan in Madrid, Spain, in
2019, were highlighted in the book. Ms Cheryl Lee of
Singapore moderated the panel discussion.
“I have learned what leadership is all about
through my NYAA journey, to lead by example
and develop my passion for protecting our
environment. It’s always an amazing experience
learning from one another and being part of a
larger community advocating environmental
prorotection and nature conservation”.
