• Geofuture-Eurasian Complexity,
Connectivity, and Sustainability:
Ready for a Green Economy
NYAA participated in the launch of the book “The Big
Picture” at the Asia Europe Foundation. The book
launch was followed by a roundtable discussion on the
future of Asia-Europe connectivity and the potential
for Eurasian collaboration. NYAA Executive Director
shared insights on Singapore’s youth engagement
with the European Union with Dr Nobery Csizmadia,
President of the Pallas Athene Geopolitical and
Innovation Foundation and Budapest Centre for
Long-term Sustainability. NYAA looks forward
to strengthening relations with the Europe-Asia
Foundation by providing youth leaders a platform to
engage with their counterparts in the EU.
• Forward SG Dialogue with Business and
Industry Leaders on ESG
Mr Wong Kee Joo, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC
Singapore and a vital member of the NYAA Advisory
Board, was a speaker at the Forward SG Dialogue
alongside Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability
and the Environment. The Minister encouraged
SMEs to explore green opportunities and low-carbon
solutions as growth strategies. Mr Wong highlighted
the success of the HSBC NYAA initiative in partnership
with SMEs and ITE students. The pilot project was
successful, and HSBC and NYAA plan to scale it up to
involve more SMEs.
• City in Nature Challenge Fireside Chat
In November 2023, the City in Nature Fireside Chat on
“Connecting Communities with Nature” took place
at the HortPark Function Hall. The panel featured
distinguished guests, including Clavin Tan, NYAA Gold
Award holder and Head of Sustainability Practice; Karl
Png, NParks Youth Steward and NYAA Gold Award
holder; and Prof Leo Tan, Chairman of the City Garden
Fund. The discussion was moderated by Mr Desmond
Chong, Head of Risk Management (Asia Pacific) at
Mastercard, also an NYAA Gold Award holder. The
event drew over 300 students, underscoring its
significance in fostering dialogue on environmental
stewardship and community engagement.
• Seminar on Sustainability & Assurance for
Green Manufacturing
The Seminar on Sustainability and Assurance for
Green Manufacturing, held at ITE College Central,
focused on establishing a green approach to reduce a
manufacturer’s environmental impact, from product
design to sustainable business management. NYAA
engaged the business community on the importance
of a green economy as a central pillar, creating new
jobs and transforming the manufacturing sector.
