The cost price for a typical HPL sheet (113 kg) is about $400.
The average cost incurred per month is then (22600/113) x $400 = $80,000
The annual cost will be ($80000 x 12) = $960,000
To Quantify Cost Savings and Carbon Savings:
From the environmental review done, the team finds that the off-cuts (big or small) and the phenolic dust and powder (phenolic
formaldehyde resin powder) from the Compact Phenolic Panels or High Pressure Laminate (HPL) sheets, are the main concerns
if left unused or if discarded, which will increase carbon footprint for the company.
AN EXISTING ECO-SOLUTION is already in place at EcoPlus Manufacturing:
For the phenolic dust and powder (phenolic formaldehyde resin powder) that are generated by sawing of the HPL sheets (CNC
machines) and sanding of the HPL sheets (sanding machines), EcoPlus recycled the powder waste by curing and toughening
paper honeycomb panels used in their Favolic Design.
The monthly number of bags (per 20 kg) produced for 60 bags is 1200 kg, and an annual 14400 kg is made, with a yearly carbon
emission of 13564.8 kg (see Table 4).
