Word and God’s holy standards.

Also, in 1 Peter 2:9, believers in general

(not just pastors and church leaders) are

referred to as a holy and royal priesthood,

so there should be no spiritual superiority

attributed to “the clergy” as compared to

“the laity.” All born again believers are

indwelt with the Holy Spirit and have equal

standing before God regardless of their

position in a church; therefore, all believers

have direct access to God without pastoral

mediation and can “come boldly unto the

throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy,

and find grace to help in time of need”

(Heb. 4:16). First Timothy 2:5 says, “For
