children are being taught “behind closed
doors.” If I had it to do over again, I would
want to bring up our children in a family-
integrated church where the parents are
encouraged to assume their God-given
responsibility — and privilege — to
spiritually train up their children in the
way they should go (Prov. 22:6).
And then at the most critical time in a
young person’s spiritual life, the church
turns the youth over to a “youth pastor”
who is hired by the church to — for the
most part — provide fun activities for the
youth and to teach them that it’s not “cool”
to be too serious about living for Christ and
that they can say that they’re Christians but
continue to live and look like the world.
