“what’s in it for me” or in order to “buy” a
person’s affections, dependency, or loyalty,
nor does it use people to gratify one’s
emotional or social needs or carnal
pleasures. Much of what is done under the
guise of “love” is, in reality, co-dependent
behavior and is often self-centered because
of a need to be loved and needed by the
benefactor, and the gift bestowed or the
good deed rendered is not necessarily in
the best interests of the recipient and can
promote rebellion and waywardness and/or
an irresponsible lifestyle.
Jesus’ ministry on earth was totally selfless
and not dependent upon whether or not He
