God’s kind of love “doth not behave itself

unseemly”

Webster’s 1828 dictionary defines the

word “unseemly” as “Not fit or becoming;

uncomely; unbecoming; indecent,” which

would encompass all kinds of offensive,

obnoxious, insulting, inconsiderate, rude,

and even silly behavior. When I was still a

fairly young Christian, WWJD (What Would

Jesus Do?) was a very popular slogan, and I

still evaluate behavior (including my own

behavior) with that kind of a mindset; and

from reading about Jesus (in the King James

Bible), I can’t picture Him being rude, a
