4mo M Husky bitten on the face by another dog 2 weeks previously. Representative images were acquired at the level of the unerupted
canine tooth roots (a), the third maxillary premolars (b), and the maxillary recess (c). A comminuted fracture of the right maxilla is pre
sent, associated with dental fractures and tooth fragment migration. Mineralized dental fragments are seen subcutaneously (a: arrows),
and the unerupted left first molar is lodged within the left maxillary recess (c: arrow).
Figure 1.9.4 Trauma (Canine) CT
1y MC Great Dane with unilateral nasolacrimal
duct obstruction and a history of being bitten
in the face as a puppy. There is disorganization
of the left maxillary fourth premolar with
altered structure and two unequally sized frag
ments (a: solid arrows). The maxillary bone
surrounding the tooth roots is expansile with a
lytic component (a: open arrow). The frontal
sinuses are asymmetric, and the zygomatic
and maxillary bones are malformed. This has
affected formation of the nasolacrimal duct on
the left side, compared to the normal duct
on the right (d: arrowheads).
