3y FS German Shepherd Dog with acute onset of seizures. There is an ill‐defined, ovoid mass within the left thalamic region (a–c: arrow),
which is heterogeneously T1 hypointense (b: arrow) and heterogeneously FLAIR hyperintense (a: arrow). A similar but larger mass is seen
in the right occipital lobe (d–f: arrow). There is extensive bihemispheric white matter edema associated with both masses (a,d: arrowheads).
The masses markedly contrast enhance, revealing ill‐defined and irregular margins (c,f: arrow). There is also excessive meningeal
enhancement evident adjacent to the masses (c,f: arrowhead). Postmortem examination confirmed granulomatous encephalitis from
widely disseminated systemic aspergillosis.
