Prayer Taken Out of School
“I’ve been calling your phone since seven a.m.” Katey
said.
“So have I,” said Adriana.
“Im sorry, my cell phone went dead and I didn’t have an
alarm clock. I ended up oversleeping.
“What’s going on?” Samaria asked.
“We don’t know. Principal Hosabal told everyone over
the intercom to report to the auditorium. So, here we are,”
Katey said.
“Good morning, “ said Principal Hosabal as he greeted
the students somberly. If everyone could listen up and take
your seats please, I will explain to you what’s going on.”
The students took their seats, got quiet, and tuned into
what Principal Hosabal had to say. “Before I give you all some
very devastating news, I want you all to know that I’ve done
everything that I can possibly do to stop this from happening.
Even the entire school board committee has done everything
in their power to stop this --this, nonsense. However, as your
principal, it is my duty to inform you, that as of December 1st,
prayer will no longer be allowed in school.”
A hush, like a blanket, fell over the auditorium. Then quick-
ly, the silence turned into a roar of disbelief.
“What?” Samaria exclaimed.
“You’re kidding me.” Katey said in disbelief.
“Did the principal say what I think he said?” Adriana
asked. The students became furious.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Principal Hosabal said as he walked
away from the microphone and podium with his head held
down.
“No prayer in school? When did prayer ever hurt anyone,”
Adriana asked. “That’s the reason why this school is one of the
