Will the Real Christians Stand Up
“Do you know Jesus?” Katey asked as she brushed off
her hand across her pants. The lady remained quiet for a sec-
ond before saying she used to know him but somehow strayed
away from him.
“Sometimes, as believers, we tend to get off course at
times; however, we must remember that God is still married to
a backslider. If it’s okay, ma’am, I would like to tell you a story
about the prodigal son.
Katey recounted a short version of the story of the prod-
igal son, who although he left his father and wasted all his
resources and resorted to wild and extravagant living, the Fa-
ther received him back home again. As she told the story, the
lady started crying.
Jesus Christ is here waiting right now with his arms opened
wide to receive you back as a sheep that once was lost but is
now found. Are you ready to be embraced by Jesus?”
“Yes, I am,” the lady said with teary eyes. She told her
dog to stay so it wouldn’t be a distraction. Katey led the wom-
an in a prayer.
When they finished, the lady hugged Katey. She shout-
ed hallelujah and thanked Katey for helping her get back in
touch with Jesus Christ. The woman was so thrilled, she gave
Katey another hug before she and her dog walked off.
Katey signaled the end of the scene. The youth ap-
plauded and talked among themselves about the play. They
started to take their seats and settle down as Samaria took
center stage.
“Good morning,” she said as she waved out to the
youth. “Before we do the final play, I would like to make men-
tion of the fact that when witnessing, we must keep a heart
of compassion and always remember that we were once in
that dead state too. So the final play takes place in a nursing
