home. Pay close attention,” Samaria said as she and some of
the others readied themselves.
The Nursing Home
“Good morning, “Samaria said as she entered the elder-
ly man’s room.
“There’s nothing good about the morning when you’re
paralyzed from the waist down,” he said as he lay in his bed
watching the news on television.
There’s still good about the morning, sir. You have life,
and you have a young lady here that is concerned about
you.”
The man looked at Samaria with an odd stare, shrugged
his shoulders as he said, “I guess,” and resumed watching tele-
vision.
“Are you a big fan of chocolate?” she asked as she
pulled out a pack of chocolate.
“As a matter of fact, I am,” the man said as he sat up a
little more in the bed, “I haven’t had a piece of chocolate in
a mighty long time.
Samaria opened the box of chocolate turtles and asked
his name. “Wilson, Mr. Wilson,” he said with a light smile.
“My name is Samaria,” she said as she handed Mr. Wil-
son the box of chocolate.
“Beautiful name for a beautiful young lady,” he said, ac-
cepting the box of chocolate. She then asked Mr. Wilson if
he would like some milk to go with his chocolate. He let out
a hearty laugh and said, “You know, you remind me of my
daughter, and yes, yes, I would.”
Samaria got the milk and brought it back to him. “Sir, I
would like to ask you a question if you don’t mind.”
