Will the Real Christians Stand Up
was going to swing with his right and landed an uppercut to
the face of the soldier, putting him flat on his back.
“That hurts,” the soldier in training said. The team laughed.
“I will give one more person a chance to receive $1000.
Is there anybody else?
The team sat quietly.
“Anybody? Going once, going twice.” “I’ll try,” Samaria
said.
“Well, if it isn’t a lady,” Drill Sergeant Miller said. “I was
taught not to hit females, and I don’t, but if you would take
this chance of striking me and you miss, I will not forfeit my
chance at attempting to hit you. Agreed?”
“Okay, ready when you are. Ready?” Drill Sergeant Mill-
er asked.
Samaria stood in front of the Drill Sergeant and took a
swing.
“Almost,” Drill Sergeant Miller said.
Samaria took another swing at Drill Sergeant Miller and
missed. “Okay, one last chance.” Drill Sergeant Miller said.
Samaria flinched with her right, and Drill Sergeant moved
his head slightly to the left. Samaria flinched with her left. Drill
Sergeant moved his head to the right. Samaria tried with her
left again and connected a solid right to the lips of Drill Ser-
geant Miller. The team cheered.
“I can’t believe it!” Drill Sergeant Miller said as he raised
his hand to feel his busted lip. “I’ve never been hit before and
of all the people in the world, a woman.”
Drill Sergeant Jackson winked his right eye at Samaria
and followed it up with a smirk.
“What’s your name, young lady?” Drill Sergeant Miller
asked.
“Samaria Williams,” Samaria answered.
