Will the Real Christians Stand Up Will the Real Christians Stand Up
Samaria replied, “Yes, sir.”
Drill Sergeant Jackson started clapping his hands. “Well
done, Samaria. Well done. What you young ladies did was
courageous. It was bold, and it was brilliant, oh, absolutely
brilliant. As a result of the brave stand that you and the other
ladies took, my daughters were able to continue their prayer
circle in their schools. My wife will be so happy to know that
I have the awesome privilege of training you. Very well, I just
wanted you to know that it’s an honor to train you. Thank you.”
“You’re quite welcome.”
“Carry on.” As Samaria stood to proceed out of the Drill
Sergeant’s office, he motioned to her to give her a warning.
“Oh, Samaria.”
“Yes, Sir, Drill Sergeant Jackson,” Samaria answered. “Ev-
erybody here didn’t agree with the bold stand that you took.
Captain Smith is one of those people, so be on the lookout for
animosity if he finds out who you are.” “Yes sir, and thank you,
Drill Sergeant Jackson.”
“You bet.”
Samaria proceeded back to her barracks. She searched
for the soldier who made the offensive comment about
prayer. He lay still in his bunk, still in uniform, with a magazine
on his chest.
“Excuse me, sir. May I have a word with you?” she asked
politely.
“I don’t want to talk,” he said gruffly.
“Very well.” Disappointed, Samaria made her way back
to her bunk and sat down.
“What was that all about?” her bunkmate whispered to
her.
“Drill Sergeant Jackson wanted me to be aware that he
knew who I was and that the stand that we took for prayer to
be kept in school was a very bold stand?”
