know, but mother hated this too so it had to go.
Finally he got the message and we were back to Fords with a
beautiful Zephyr Zodiac Mk2 with two tone paintwork. The
coming of this, the best choice of them all, coincided with
mother’s windfall after the death of her father!
Father was always short of money, he had a good job but it
seemed that no sooner had he earned it than mother spent it!
This car must have cost a lot because it stayed with us a long
time and I eventually used it to take my first driving test. I loved
driving and didn’t need to take a second.

The car he always wanted but could not find during all this
time was a Citroen Traction Avant and I know when I had the
chance to road test and write about the new Citroen DS Pallas in
1964 for my newspaper, he was very jealous!
