Page 30 - GOLIATH THE TALLEST HORSE IN THE WHOLE WORLD
P. 30
Picture here of Andy riding in “his” crane, in the
original sling which we made from old machinery
belting.
I had been thinking the problem through for some time
and decided that we needed a hydraulic crane to lift the
horse. Also that crane had to be mobile to get wherever
the horse had fallen. An electric winch would be no good
as it was too slow, once the horse realised that help was
at hand he was determined to get up come what may.
During those seconds there was always the chance he
could damage himself or his helpers. The whole
arrangement had to be simple, quick, straightforward,
efficient, fully capable and reliable.
