All problems, accidents, unsafe conditions and deviations from the Safe System of
Work must be reported to the Concrete Service Supervisor or Transport Manager
immediately.
PPE Required
• Bump cap
• Safety Glasses
• Cut and Puncture Resistant Gloves
• Safety Boots
Clearing behind the blade on an REL
These standards shall apply to all drivers that operate the Refuse Collection vehicle
when cleaning behind the ejector blade
Method
1. Position the vehicle in the designated area . (Workshop Yard/Building)
2. Engage E Stop and remove keys from ignition and exit vehicle and walk around to
the rear of the vehicle checking there are no other site users within the vicinity of
the RCV.
3. Ensure that the ejector blade is in the fully forward position
4. Using steps provided open and enter the inspection hatch on the off side of the
vehicle
5. Clear debris from around the ejector blade and headboard
6. Inspect Ram and ejector blade for any sign of damage
7. Exit the load area via steps provided, close and lock hatch
8. Reset E Stops and check vehicle operation

Work must be reported to the Concrete Service Supervisor or Transport Manager
