This class will introduce how to connect code with microprocessors (like the Raspberry Pi) to solve problems and create unique
interactive experiences. Smart objects are all around us; with inventions like Alexa and Google Home they are becoming central to our
everyday lives. In this class, students will learn how to connect sensors and other inputs to the Internet to solve problems. Want to
talk to your pet from the Internet? Want to create a laser trip wire to detect motion in your room? Want to know when it’s time to
water your plants? The problems you design for are up to you. This is a hands on lab class where students will code, design and invent
in pairs. Along the way, you will learn how to code in Python, the basics of circuits and electronics and an introduction to web design.

Have a mobile app idea that you want to create? This class teaches you what you need to get going in web and mobile design. You
will learn the fundamentals of JavaScript and web technologies to build cross platform mobile applications. By the end of this class,
you will be testing your designs on your own devices – watching your ideas come to life. Prerequisite: Successful completion of
Inventing Smart Objects CTE. It is suggested that Web Animation & Interaction is taken before this course.

Interested in web design, interactivity, and animation? In this class, you will learn how to code web sites and the fundamentals of
JavaScript, unlocking the ability to create animations for the web, using HTML, CSS & JavaScript. This class teaches you what you
need to get going in the web design field including User Interface Design, responsive web design, and interactive animations for the
web. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Inventing Smart Objects CTE.

Computer Science Essentials (CSE) is designed to be a full-year (180-day) course. This course is an excellent entry point for new high
school computer science (CS) learners. And students who have prior CS experiences will find ample opportunity to expand upon
those experiences in this course. All students who take CSE will have many opportunities for creative expression and exploration in
topics of personal interest, whether it be through app development, web design, or connecting computing with the physical world.
