With the disappearance of the Bedouins, my nostalgia quickly turned into a mission to
find the rest of the Horrs in Algeria. With a colossal effort, I was able to get to know the
pieces that make up the Sloughi chessboard in Algeria in 2018. Certainly, my desire to
work collectively led me to get in touch with the most influential people on the scene,
notably breeders and researchers. Among them was Dr. Haddam, a doctoral student in
biology who was preparing his thesis on the Sloughi at the University of Tlemcen, and
after several discussions on the subject of the Sloughi and the means of restoring its
knowledge on a scientific basis and saving it, the idea of organizing a seminar was an
essential proposal to ensure a strong restart.
2. Algerian Sloughi Seminar: from project to reality
Dr. Haddam spared no effort to organize this seminar in the biology institute of the
University of Tlemcen, the agreement was granted by the management and the date was
set for May 25 and 26, 2022, and I had the honor of being named Vice-Chairman of the
seminar (image 1).
