Page 18 - How Sophie Grumble Guts Got Her Name

The lady who belonged to the voice picked up her carrier and

took her outside to some grass.

She opened the door and said Hello Sophie, welcome to South

Australia. This will be your new home. Would you like to come out
and have a drink and go to the toilet? You must be thirsty after

your long trip.

Sophie crept forward and stuck her nose out. She didn’t want to

stay in that carrier but she wasn’t sure she wanted to get out,

either.

The lady picked her up and put her gently on the grass. My word,
you’re tiny! I thought you were going to be much bigger. You’re

hardly a dog at all.

After she’d had a drink and a wee, the lady put her in a dog bed
in the car and she went for another drive. Sophie caught

snatches of the lady’s conversation with her ….new family,
…..other dogs, …..great life but truth be told, she was too

worried about what was happening now to take it in.
