2. Customary customs (interpretation of the natural law of
the sunatullah).
3. Adat teradat (rules based on interpretations of actual
adat and adat that are adat).
4. Customs (customs based on deliberation).
The first two types of customs are very principled and
cannot be changed, namely the actual customs and
customs that are customary which in adat are called
customs that are timeless because of heat and do not rot
because of rain, these customary principles make the
Minang people fundamentalists for things related to
belief (faith). The last two types of customs, namely
customary customs and customs, are flexible and can
change according to the times. This means that the
Minang people are also very inclusive (open) to the
idea of renewal. Therefore, Minang custom contains
two characteristics that influence each other and attract
each other, on the one hand it is fundamentalist and on
the other hand it is inclusive (open), responsive
(responding to the challenges of the times).
However, Minang customs are not static as is stated in
mamangan: cloth is worn old, custom is used new.
