For example, the provisions for marriage, high
inheritance titles, death, traditional clothing, etc., all have
the same basic law but the freedom to be creative in every
nagari still has a place as long as it does not conflict with
alua jo patuik, namely fairness and propriety according to
conscience.
D. Customs
Customs are also provisions that are reached from
consensus. However, it is compiled on the basis of the wishes,
desires or self-will of members of the community, for example in
matters of sports, arts, entertainment or self-defense. In the field of
sports, many games have emerged such as football, takraw, martial
arts, etc. The arts also have diversity such as talempong, umbrella
dance, plate dance etc.
Nan traditional customs and customs are both called adat
nan bubuhua sentak (custom with snaps or easily opened). The two
types of customs above are very open to be changed, added and
reduced as long as their implementation is through deliberation and
consensus. This is illustrated in the following petitih proverb:
