obedience to the more mature (senior) who are generally called
obedient and obedient to the leader.
In terms of terms, the meaning of lareh in adat means the
flow of leadership that has an impact on the form of government.
There are two schools of leadership in the Minangkabau
government system called the Larasan and both are better known
as the Lareh nan duo. According to Mochtar Naim:
Alam Minang which is divided into two harmony,
namely the harmony of Koto Piliang (Dt.
Ketumanggungan) and Bodi Caniago (Dt. Perpatih Nan
Sabatang), philosophically symbolizes the existence of the
dialectical and dichotomous bipolarization.
... in addition to the koto piliang society, namely those
that are hierarchical, feudalistic and paternalistic, there
are also people who have a caniago body, namely those

that are more populist-oriented, equal and fraternalistic.
It was explained above that the koto piliang sect or lareh
which originated from the thought of Datuk Ketumanggungan was
supported by two merging tribes, namely the Koto tribe and the
Piliang tribe. This means that the school that adheres to the thought
of Datuk Ketumanggungan is called the leadership school (lareh)
of Koto Piliang, while the school that adheres to the thought of
