Figure 21 Effective methods and strategies student teachers use to motivate and boost up
               learners' desire to learn poetry

               Positive reinforcement

According to the results in figure 21, one (14.3%) Student teacher employed positive strategies
during poetry lessons or classes. This was done by giving rewards when a learner had performed

well in a given task such as a test or a classwork. A teacher can for instance give a poetry book to
a learner for passing a poetry test.

               Creativity and performance

The finding from figure 21, revealed that three (42.9%) respondents mentioned that learners were

encouraged to be poetic by creating poems of their own choice. From the feedback given by some

of our respondents learners are made to act and sing Poetic songs. This idea was supported by
Sithamparam (2001) who said that teachers can prepare a group of questions to attract learners’

attention to the presented poetry. Further, he recommended that questions should be challenging
during the while reading or listening stages of the lesson, this would definitely improve learners’

creative skill. Learners approach poetry through either by listening to the audio tool or reading
aloud for the teacher or reciting by students themselves.

               Knowledge enhancement

According to the results of figure 21, one (14,3 %) student teacher respondent they indicted that
learners’ knowledge can be enhanced by encouraging them to be critical thinkers by reading more

poetry-related books. AL-Bakiri (2019) stated that the first reading is very vital for learners if it
