Bank Personnel: Hello, 000? This is Susan from Commonwealth Bank, Melbourne. I need an
Ambulance right away because a pregnant client’s water broke.
Ambulance Team: Okay, Ma’am, I need the complete address of your bank in Melbourne as
well as your telephone number.
Bank Personnel: Our exact location is Commonwealth Bank Bldg, 5th Avenue, Bayside, Mel-
bourne, Australia and our telephone number is 805-88-46.
Ambulance Team: Alright, Madam. I want you to help us. I need you to support the patient with
her labor process and not let her fall asleep.
Bank Personnel: I’m not a midwife or a health practitioner. How can I do that?
Ambulance Team: You need not be a midwife or a health practitioner to support a woman in
labor. Is somebody with her right now?
Bank Personnel: No, Sir. She is alone.
Ambulance Team: Can you ask her if it’s her first baby or not? We’ll be depending on that to
determine the length of the labor process.
Bank Personnel: Oh! I can see the head coming! What shall I do?
Ambulance Team: We’re just a minute away. Please lay her comfortably on a clean cloth and
just follow the rotation of the baby.
Bank Personnel: I understand.
Ambulance Team: Don’t pull the baby. Just support the head and the whole body as it comes
out from the mother’s cervix. Do you get me, Madam?
Bank Personnel: I’m so afraid of blood. I’m nervous!
Ambulance Team: Stay calm. Keeping talking to the mother and keep on coaching her to push
only during contractions.
Bank Personnel: Oh no! Alright, I’ll do that.
Ambulance Team: Good job, Madam. Thanks a lot for your help. We can take it from here.

ing an emergency?

The Ambulance Team is a major help especially during an emergency because like in
any disaster; they bridge the gap between the hospital and the client. Immediate aid is
given even if there is a distance, thus, giving the patient a greater chance of survival.
