E.R. Doctor: First, I am your OB Gynecologist, and I am here to talk to you regarding your
recovery.
Mrs. Choi: Yes, Doctor.
E.R. Doctor: I am pleased to tell you that your baby is now safe. Right now, the contractions had
stopped as well as your bleeding which means there is this huge possibility that you could
keep the baby.
Director Choi: Thanks a lot for your help doctor!
Mrs. Choi: Does this mean that I can now go home?
E.R. Doctor: Not yet, we’ll just have to move you to the Labor Room so that specialists like us
OB Gynecologists; could continue monitoring yours and baby’s condition.
Director Choi: How long does she still need to stay here because we’re just here for a business
trip; for a short visit?
E.R. Doctor: That I can’t guarantee you, Director Choi, for I’m afraid that the bleeding and
contractions just stopped because of the infusion of Magnesium Sulfate.
Director Choi: Is my wife and our baby now safe from danger?
E.R. Doctor: Yes, Director Choi, they are both safe.
Mrs. Choi: Alright, doctor, do what you think is best for me and my baby.
E.R. Doctor: I’ll do my very best Mr. and Mrs. Choi; I want to be of help to you.

1. Is it necessary to let the patient know about his/her recovery or condition?

Sample answer:
Of course, they have the right to know what’s going on with their treatment and re-
covery. They are entitled to choose whether to continue with the therapy process or if
they choose to be sent to another institution in the middle of a treatment once, they
feel the need to do so.

2. Who are the only people in the hospital who can let the patient know about
his/her condition or recovery?
