2.  Do you vary the method of introducing yourself depending on who you’re
                  meeting for the first time?

                  Sample answer:
                  I might vary it slightly depending on what type of relationship I hope to cultivate with
                  the person.  Generally, I begin by saying my name and preoccupation.


               3.  How important do you think are first impressions to the development of a
                  long-term relationship?

                  Sample answer:
                  I think people generally determine what type of relationship they wish to have with
                  a person largely based on the first impression.  From the first few minutes, people
                  generally judge whether a person appears competent or trustworthy and vice versa.
                  Though it is possible to change a first impression, I think it’s much better to just try to
                  make the best first impression you can.







               1.  You have had some previous mail and phone correspondence with your lat-
                  est client Mr. Mike Watt.  However, you will be meeting him for the first time
                  today to negotiate the contract.


                  Sample answer:
                  Good afternoon Mr. Watt.  Welcome to Brandon Communications.  I’m Ken Lee, Senior
                  Associate and head of the Asian Expansion Project.  We’ve corresponded several times
                  and I believe we could really make this deal very worthwhile.  I’ve incorporated what
                  we’ve previously discussed into the contract, along with some inputs from our project
                  team.  I hope we can come up with a good arrangement.

               2.  You work in the Communication Division of your company.  You have been
                  chosen to attend a business conference focusing on various technologies
                  used to facilitate business communication.  You find an opportunity to meet
                  the speaker on Audio Conferencing.

                  Sample answer:
                  Good afternoon Mr. Tang.  I’m Sara Parker from the Communications Division of Marlo
                  and Sanders Incorporated.  I really learned a lot from your talk and I hope our company
                  can implement some of your suggestions.  I did not realize that audio conferencing
                  can make such an impact on client relations.  It does seem to be a very convenient
                  mode of communication. Could contact you for some advice when we start imple-
                  menting some of your suggestions?  It would really help.
