In our town, the people have decided to
               hold very simple feast.

JZ: When is the feast in your place?
Jingle: It will be this coming Sunday.

Camille: Will you invite us to your patron saint’s feast?
Jingle: I would, but please don’t expect a lavish feast. My father says it is unwise to spend a lot.
JZ: My mother thinks that way, too. During town feasts, we only prepare simple dishes.
Jingle: The reason why people spend a lot of money during feasts is that they serve their guests
                  with rich and lavish food.
Camille: Every family has to contribute its share for the feast.
Jingle: Yes, I know that for others big money is needed for a hiring band, performers and fire-
                  works.
JZ: The people enjoy hearing bands and seeing the shows.
Camille: Don’t you enjoy seeing the big crowd?
Jingle: I think there’s a lot of noise.
Camille: In our town, the people have decided to hold very simple feasts. People will be able to
save more if they hold simple gatherings.
Jingle: That’s absolutely correct my dear!

Camille: Let’s just hope that the people in our town will realize that too.
JZ: Why not? It’s never too late for them to change.

               1. Why do people spend a lot during feasts?

                  Sample answer:
They spend a lot because people want to serve their guests. A town feast happens
only once a year and most people don’t mind spending a lot just to celebrate. How-
                  ever, it is uneconomical.

               2. What celebration do you cherish with your family?

                  Sample answer:
Well of course, Christmas and New Year’s Eve wouldn’t be complete with out the pres-
ence of my whole family. Those are two important occasions, which I will always cher-
