Unauthorized absence may incur
suspension.
Robert: Good morning Mark. Here’s a letter for you.
Mark: What is this?
Robert: It’s my letter of excuse because I was absent yesterday.
Mark: Did you secure a medical certificate yet?
Robert: No, not yet. Where can I get that?
Mark: You can get it from one of our accredited medical partners,
Robert: Okay, I think I’ll just go and ask the H.R. about that.
Mark: Anyway Robert, we had a meeting yesterday, I want you to be reminded that unauthorized
absence may incur suspension.
Robert: Really, you mean I will be suspended?
Mark: Yes, not unless you can provide a medical certificate.
Robert: But what can I do? I’m really helpless yesterday. I’m very sick and I really got poisoned
because of the food left at the kitchen.
Mark: I told you that you don’t have to worry because if you can secure a medical certificate, you
won’t be suspended.
Robert: Well, I’m not afraid because I can provide that for I’m truly sick yesterday.
Mark: Of course, I believe you! What are you waiting for? Secure a medical certificate now.
Robert: Gee, thanks a lot!
1. What is your idea about malingering?
Sample answer:
This is an unauthorized absence, which is inline with false excuse. Someone is pre-
senting himself a false story as an excuse of his or her absence. Having valid excuse for
absences is a company policy, which must be reiterated to employees during meet-
ings. It would be a bad habit to keep on practicing such action.
2. Why are meetings important in a company?
