friends or family members as they visited a new place? How was the experi-
ence like?
Sample answer:
I have once been a guide to some guests who visited our workplace. The guests were super-
visors in a branch of our company in Busan. At first, I was very nervous because it was my
first time to entertain and to tour guests around our plant. I was worried that I might not be
interesting and knowledgeable enough to do my job. Despite my fears, I still did my best and
everything went well.
1. Imagine that you have been assigned to be the guide of important visitors
who will tour your plant/office. Prepare an opening spiel that will give a) a
brief introduction of yourself and b) the outline of the tour.
Sample answer:
Good morning dear guests! I’m Kim, the assistant head of the production office of KZT Indus-
tries, ______ Division. I hope you have all rested after your long trip and ready for the tour I
planned for you today. I was informed that you want to look at our offices and to observe the
production in our main plant, so I planned our tour with your requests in consideration. For the
first part of the tour, we will go around the different offices of our administrative building, and
then we will have some snacks. You will have a chance to meet some of our office personnel
during the break. Then, we will watch an informative video about the history of the plant and
our production process. Finally, we will visit the plant so you can observe how we actually man-
ufacture our products. I hope that plan is fine with you. If you’re ready now, we may begin.
2. You are expecting some important guests who want to tour your office. You
have assigned a capable office staff member to do this job for the company.
The tour is very important to your company because you want your guests
to be impressed and eventually invest in your company. Give reminders and
pointers to your assigned tour guide.
Sample answer:
Good morning, Karl! You have been assigned to do this job because we, your supervisors, think
that you are perfectly capable to do this. We have some reminders, though, to help you do your
job well. Of course, we want you to be pleasant and hospitable to our visitors. I want you to
give a brief history of the company, with emphasis on trade relations. I want you be very clear
in explaining how we do things here at the plant. Draw attention to our stringent standards
for ensuring that every item that we manufacture displays the highest quality. Make the tour
snappy and informative. That’s all, Karl. Do your best.
