Unit 3
You look down these days.
A: Is there something wrong, Samantha? You look down these days.
B: I’m fi ne. Thanks for your concern. I’m just anxious about the upcoming launch of our newest
product.
A: But why? You have the best stuffs in your group.
B: Yes, however, there was a glitch during the production of the fi rst batch of our product.
A: I’m sorry to hear that. What exactly happened?
B: There was a problem with the packaging. It wouldn’t have been a major issue if the launch is
weeks ahead from now. But, we barely have three days to resolve the problem. The manage-
ment is putting all the blame on me.
A: Try to understand them. You are the head of the team so defi nitely you are on top of every-
thing.
B: Yes, I know that. I’m doing my best to make sure that the launch will be a major success.
A: That’s my girl! I suggest that you take a leave after that. You need a break.
B: I’d surely take your advice.
1. Do you feel gloomy when it is raining?
Sample answer:
Yes. I do not exactly know why but I feel down when it is raining. I feel like I want to cry for no reason at all. Perhaps I’m just a very sentimental
person.
2. What do you do to feel better when you are in a depressed mood?
Sample answer:
I keep myself busy when I am in a depressed mood. I try not to dwell on my emotions because it affects my work. I also try to think of happy
thoughts.
3. How would you uplift the spirits of somebody who feels down?
Sample answer:
I’d ask him/her to chat over a cup of coffee or I’d crack jokes to brighten the atmosphere. A good laugh is the best way to overcome such feel-
ing.
