The separate shipment
Park: We are also disappointed, of course, but it will be difficult to solve the problem of delayed
shipment by discounting the price we initially offered. We can’t afford to do that.
Come: What is your best solution then, without slashing prices, at this point Mr. Park? You had
better come up with something, or else your clients will be disappointed.
Park: As you know, the contractual price for these robots is already as low as possible. Among the
total 60 units, the best we can do is to try to have 30 units shipped from the factory by the end
of this month.
Come: So, you are saying that there’s a possibility for a separate shipment. Let me just think the
separate shipment over. OK? Just go ahead with the original plan.
Park: That means the remaining 30 units will be shipped at the end of next month. I think that’s
good enough. We have no choice. I’d rather proceed with a separate shipment than have it
delivered late.
1. What are common reasons why some companies opt for separate shipments
of orders?
Sample answer:
I think the bulk of orders also affects the decision. Sometimes, some ships can’t accommodate
such a big order, so a company has to acquire a separate shipment service.
2. Have you ever had any bad experience with separate shipments?
Sample answer:
No, we haven’t yet and we hope to never experience one. It is just a little bit inconvenient to
monitor two different shipments when you can only monitor one.
3. Would you rather ship all ordered items together or separately? Why?
Sample answer:
I would still prefer to ship everything together. That will entail less paper work and less worry.
However, there are times when we can’t avoid having separate shipment.
