On-time delivery
Adams: I see. How soon can we expect delivery, Mr. Yoon?
Yoon: Well, I think we could arrange delivery within 45 days, New York port, with an irrevocable
Letter of Credit because our production is operating at full capacity.
Adams: Please remember that on-time delivery is definitely important in this business, Mr. Yoon.
There have occasionally been cancellations simply because of delays in shipment, even after a
strong contract has been agreed upon, you know.
Yoon: I understand your situation very well. We will make a special effort to complete and deliver
your order on time. You have my word, Mr. Adams. Aside from on-time delivery, you can also be
assured of the superior quality of our products. I hope that they will give you full satisfaction.
Adams: Oh! I greatly appreciate your assurance. Punctuality is really an important thing in our
business. We cannot afford to be delayed. Our deals are at stake. It’s good that you understand
how important this is to us.
1. How do you ensure that your orders are delivered on time?
Sample answer:
We study several alternatives. We don’t have a single plan, we have plan B’s ready for any even-
tuality. Experience has also given us enough background to deal with all sorts of problems
regarding delivery. We can confidently say that we have anticipated all possible problems.
2. How do you do damage control for late deliveries?
Sample answer:
Our clients are well protected by our assurance contracts. We pay penalty for our late deliveries.
However, these events almost never happen.
3. What are the usual reasons for late deliveries?
Sample answer:
For the exceptional instances that they did, our late deliveries were caused by international
catastrophic events that truly made it impossible for us to deliver on time. Due to our valid
reason, our clients were very understanding, but we paid them what’s due to them as stated in
the claims contract.
