4.11.2 Applications cold
Purpose
a) To relieve pain
b) To reduce swelling and inflammation
c) To stop the hemorrhage
Ice Bag or Collar
An ice bag or collar
Crackled ice
Ice covers bag
Towel
Salt for prolonging card condition

Procedure
A. Fill ice bag about half full with ice
B. Expel the air
C. Check the bag for leakage
D. Fasten cap on tightly
E. Dry outside of the bag
F. Cover the bag and apply to the affected part
G. Observe reaction every half an hour
H. Refill as necessary
I. After treatment is complicated, wash and dry the bag, inflate with air, and long up.
J. Chart Procedure and reaction to the placenta.
Ice compress (Moist cold)
Purpose
To relive on gestation on pain
To reduce swelling
To prevent to check to bleed
Equipment
 Basin of ice water
 Towel
 Compress cloths (flannel, gauze, or muslin)
 Waterproof material (rubber sheet or plastic)

Procedure
1. Put the patient in a comfortable position, Explain Procedure and bed.
2. Protect the bed with waterproof material
3. Moisten compress cloths in ice water
4. Wring dry
5. Place compress cloths in the affected area
