Procedure
                   1.  Fill the bottle about half-full with hot water. If water is too hot add some cold water and
                       test it.
                   2.  Expel the air by placing the hot water bottle on a flat surface and press the lower half
                       until water is seen at the neck. Close securely and dry it.
                   3.  Test water for leaks
                   4.  Cover bag
                   5.  Place on the part of the body to be treated
                   6.  Check frequently the area to prevent burning
                   7.  Refill as needed
                   8.  After completing treatment empty the bag, inflate with air, dry outs of the bag, and
                       hang it.
                       Hot compress
                           Purpose
                       To relieve pain, congestion, and inflammation.
                       To hasten suppuration.
                       General instruction
                       a) If any discharge is present clean the wound carefully and apply a clean dressing.
                       b) Compression must be clean at all times.
                       c) All applications must be applied with a firm but gentle touch.
                       d) Be careful not to burn the patient.
                       e) If an open wound or eye is being treated, sterile Equipment must be used.
                       f) Instruments must be boiled every morning for continuous compress.
                       Equipment
                       Tray containing
                       a) Bowel of the solution as ordered
                       b) Forceps if there is a wound
                       c) 10or 20cc syringe
                       d) Dressing flannel or compress cloths if no open wound
                       e) Sterile pleaded gauze for open wound or eye.
                       f) Waterproof material for the protection of bed.
                       g) Kidney dish for soiled dressings
                       h) Towel binder or roller bandage to hold.
                       i) Safety pins.
                       j) Hot water bottle (to keep compress hot)

                       Solution
                     Boric acid solution (not used for open wound)
                     Dakin’s solution 0.05% (dilute sodium hydro chlorite solution)
                     Potassium permanganate solution.
