Procedure
1. Carry Equipment to the bedside arrange it
2. Remove all but one pillow and place on the foot of the bed
3. Loosen gown and cover the patient's shoulder with a towel
4. Move the patient to the edge of the bed.
5. Place him on the side with his back towards you.
6. Roll the tow topside of the large rubber sheet towards each other.
7. Slip one end of the rubber sheet under the patient's head and tow lower and in the basin
or pail.
8. Give the patient the wash cloth, protect his eye (Cotton ball may be used in the ears if
desired).
9. Moisten hair, pour on shampoo or soap solution and rub into the scalp; wash head
thoroughly, rinse well and repeat the procedure if necessary.
10. Hold Picher so it will not be suspended over the patient's face as much as possible after
rinsing thoroughly.
11. Draw the rubber sheet out from under the head and dry with a towel rubbing briskly.
12. Dry thoroughly and avoid chilling.
13. Comb hair using a clean comb and brush.
14. Use oil or hair creams as desired by the patient.
15. Arrange hair according to the patient's desire.
4.9 Pediculosis treatment
Purpose
To kill and remove pediculi and nits from head and hair.
To prevent transmission of pediculi
To make the patient comfortable
Equipment
1. Fine teeth comb
2. Head cover
3. Rubber sheet and cover
4. Gauze or cotton
5. Medication (Commonly used medication are: 10 % D.D.T. powder, the mixture of
kerosene and oil and vinegar
6. Vaseline
